То астрономы обнаружили рекордсмена по миниатюрному среди невырожденных звёзд, и им оказался горячий субкарлик. Этот горячий субкарлик в спектре вместе они вращаются вокруг общего центра масс с периодом всего в 20 минут.

Радиус нашего рекордсмена составляет всего семь земных радиусов, то есть примерно 45.000 км. Получается, что эта звезда в 15 раз меньше Солнца. Это и делает её рекордсменом: это самая маленькая известная на данный момент звезда.

Есть небольшой процент вероятности, что всё-таки тип звезды - это белый карлик с гелиевым ядром, но, скорее всего, это всё же горячий субкарлик, как мы и говорили. То есть в его недрах в термоядерных процессах горит гелий. И через некоторое время она превратится в белого карлика.
