Making a Motion Guide in Flash

Hey guys, this is Maads 101. Today I'm going to be showing you how to make motion guides in Flash. So you can just go ahead and open up Adobe Flash CS3. It should open up okay.

Now we're going to be using, um, you can just click "create new ActionScript 3.0." We're not going to be using any ActionScript in this video, so it doesn't really matter, but there we go. So, um, you can just, um, make, um, whatever you want. I'm just going to make like a little circle there.

And then you can just say, "go over there," press F6. That'll bring the frames there. If you click on the thing and move it over there, and right-click on this, you can say "create motion tween." It'll make a motion tween of it moving, but if you want to move it like in a squiggle pattern instead, this is what you do. Say right-click "add motion guide."

We'll make a new layer that'll guide the motion. So you can just, um, if, as you can see right over there, there's a little dot. That dot says where, um, which is the center part of your whatever you drew and what's going to be there.

So just you can just remember where that dot is and then go into your motion guide and then draw a line. You can just draw a path however you want. The only thing that matters is it has to start at wherever that dot starts and end wherever that dot ends. So I'm just going to be doing that, and as you can see, it'll tell you if you're on the dot.

And yeah, I don't know if that was on the dot, so I'm just going to do it again. There we go. And then if you play it, it'll follow that path instead of going on the regular path and, um, then it'll get back to its destination.

I hope this was helpful for you. Um, if it wasn't, then, um, uh, whatever. You can just request any videos that you want. I know that many people don't like having to do things frame by frame, and so they make a lot of motion tweens.

And, um, it's hard to make motion tweens, not motion guides, 'cause otherwise, um, it's not going to turn out that well 'cause you're going to have to make a lot more motion tweens. Instead of having to make, um, one motion tween for this, you're going to have to make one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, seven motion tweens just to make this one little clip that took us like very short time to make.

Um, so there you go. Um, have a nice day! Thank you for watching. Please subscribe.
