NEW Tudor Watches 2024

Something happens. I don't, I don't know what to tell you. It just, in the watch world, when something gets hot, it gets hot, and nobody can really put the finger on why. What's hotter than Tudor? Nothing!

Okay! Mr. Wonderful here at Watches and Wonders. Now I'm on the hunt this year for entry-level watches that are fantastic value. CU, I know that's what you want. I get thousands of emails saying, "Yeah, stop showing me your watches for a million bucks. I'm not going to buy one of those." And I get it! I get it! Look, I have some fun with that, but what really matters when you start your journey is can you collect pieces that are iconic, that are beautiful, made of fantastic materials, and are very, very hip?

I'm talking about watches that are under 10,000 bucks, so you can do it without putting yourself in debt. The brand you're going to go to is Tudor. There is no brand hotter on Earth than what's happening with Tudor right now. Now you know the heritage and Rolex; everybody gets it, but they're their own brand now. This brand is on fire! It's happened the last couple of years. They've done a fantastic job in bringing new pieces out at great prices, but it's more than that.

Something happens. I don't, I don't know what to tell you! It just, in the watch world, when something gets hot, it gets hot, and nobody can really put the finger on why. What's hotter than Tudor? Nothing!

So let's talk to Cole here, who works out of Geneva. This is the guy we're looking for. New pieces! Cole, yes sir, what's new from Tudor? What's smoking hot? What are the price points? What do you got for me?

All right! Well, this year we see four new releases, and today we're going to cover three of them.

Okay, and we'll go chop liver. I don't get the fourth?

Well, the fourth, I mean, it's not exciting for you, I would say, but it's the CLA D R O. Oh, of course! Oh, I'm sure! Yeah, yeah, we'll make reference to it, so we carry it all. I got it.

Okay, let's go through the hot smokers this... yeah, exactly. I want to put the hot smokers in front of you! So let's start off with the hottest smoking watch of the show! Yeah, it's our Black Bay 58 GMT. I'm wearing it. You're wearing one right there! It's classic in every way.

Now, tell us a little bit about it. What are the features? I don't need to get into heavy tech, 'cause the dial is just beautiful, and a lot of these dials, I gotta tell you, Cole, when I see it in digital, it's not the same as when you pick it up!

So true! This watch is 50x what it looks like on a phone!

This watch, so it's based on the Black Bay 58, sort of the ultimate classic iconic base. Yeah, and it's only 0.1 mm thicker than a normal Black Bay 58, yet it has a GMT function.

So how did you do that?

By redesigning and introducing a whole new caliber. So the caliber inside here: brand new caliber, brand new caliber. That's a big deal! That's a lot of money invested!

It is! So it's a brand new manufacturing movement that's also METAS Master Chronometer certified. So if you're going to make a new movement anyway to fit a 39mm case, you better make it able to be Master Chronometer certified! So that's what we've done.

This is a steel watch, right? Steel watch, classic full steel watch, gilt accents, red and black, black bezel, GMT, GMT function with a snowflake GMT hand, a matte dial, and it is $4,600!

Okay, so you... I mean, GMTs for under 5,000? Forget it! Tudor, never! And now a smoking hot new caliber! I mean, the whole thing about this piece is it's got this beautiful... I mean, it's hard to explain. It's just perfect in every way!

We have iterated and iterated on the design and slowly changed over time to become what it is, and finally it's sort of come into its own and it's ready for the GMT complication. A lot of folks have been asking for this dual-directional bezel.

That's right! Yeah, yeah, so that means you can turn it both ways! 'Cause you're 200 ft underwater now, you got your tanks on, which you never are, but you want that feature in case you think about it! But it's really a beautiful sports piece, but elegant enough to wear with a tuxedo!

Yeah, that's the idea! So if you're thinking about your very first watch and you want something iconic, built off a lot of history with the most incredible feature set for under 5,000, you know, I feel like I'm a paid spokesperson, but I'm not! I have to celebrate success because really what I'm doing is trying to find the very best value when you're coming into watch collecting.

And there are really very few brands with this kind of value and this look at under $6,000. This is under 5,000!

Okay, Cole, that was spectacular! So talking about value, just to kind of mix it up a little bit, we'll go out of... So typical Tudor price segment is $2,000 to $7,000, but there is one watch that was released this year that doesn't necessarily fit that mold but is very Tudor!

I know what it's going to be! Does it have the word gold in it?

It does! Whoa! I almost dropped it! Yeah, no kidding! What a slab of gold! So this is the Black Bay 581, 18K, and now it has a solid gold bracelet!

Now, I don't recall there ever being solid gold Black Bay.

What was, uh, there was in 2021 there was a Black Bay 18K, but it didn't have the bracelet, right? It was released on a fabric strap!

It's never been a solid slab of gold, never. Not Black Bay!

So Black Bay is, you should give us a little detail about how iconic that is for Tudor.

It’s kind of the watch that has come to define Tudor in the modern era. We have two core lines in the tool watch space, one being the Pelagos, which is very industrial tool-like, and Black Bay, which is focused on heritage.

And heritage often means well-wearing proportions. So this is a 39mm. Also experimented with other materials like silver!

That's right! The 925! So this same exact case has been rendered in silver, steel, of course, ceramic, and gold, and bronze!

Of course, bronze! Bronze is very interesting!

It is, it is, and this sort of has an aesthetic similar to bronze! But something very interesting about this watch specifically... two points! Firstly, it's all satin finished! We typically associate gold watches almost like a mattish finish.

Yeah, exactly! It's matte! Can I feel the weight of this?

Yeah, of course! It's 193 grams!

Wow! That is one honkin' piece of gold!

This is sort of a greenish finish beautifully with the gold, unique to that model. A matte dial, which is also unusual!

And so this is 30K! This is a high price!

That's 30K Francs! So $32,000! So 30,000 Swiss Francs, around 32 and change US dollars, right?

But still, to get a solid gold watch at 30K? Not bad!

Not bad! And it's just an unusual offering! Not quite an entry-level, but if you're reaching for your second piece and you just got that promotion, you want to go solid gold!

And by the way, gold is back! So big! Every brand has realized! It was out of favor for about seven years, and now yellow gold, rose gold, white gold: on fire! But yellow gold particularly, you see it everywhere now!

Beautiful! Alright, that's pretty good! What else?

So we'll go back down to a core offering, which would be the Black Bay, just the Tudor Black Bay, the icon in 41mm. Last year we introduced a METAS Master Chronometer certified watch, an iteration of the Black Bay that was Master Chronometer certified.

Also, the notches on the bezel have been redesigned in addition to the crown, and the case is trimmed up! So think of it as if there’s ever an iconic standard Tudor, this is it!

This is it. Slab side case! Snowflake hand, and now in a monochromatic aesthetic: black and white!

So what that does is by forgoing the gilt and introducing this black and white aesthetic, it brings it into the modern era!

So it's a very modern iteration!

Yeah, I get it! Price point?

Price point on this is $4,500! Another under $5,000 piece that is just absolutely... you know, here's the dilemma right now! Yes, here's a dilemma! It's your first piece, it's Tudor, you’re in the boutique, you're looking at these two.

What do you do? What do you do? You're only going to buy one... they're basically the same price, right?

Uh, yeah! Both between four and $5,000!

So let me give you some advice, I mean this is just personal preference. But when you buy your first piece, it's gotta work with jeans and with a tux! It's gotta be with a white t-shirt! It's gotta be in your swimming suit!

And by the way, these are rugged! You can jump in a lake with these or in the ocean, and they're... that's what they're designed for! But think about, you know, wearability, usability at your job site!

This is absolutely gorgeous! And of course, it's a little more sophisticated in a move, but this is a classic, classic look! Clean! We're talking tuxedo here, no problem!

I'm not saying you can't do it with this, but if I had to choose, I'd start here, then go here!

That's just me! But you know what this looks like from 20 yards away? It's classic!

And a fantastic band! Really beautiful! These are both iconic design bands! But look, anyways, I love this... but wait, there’s more!

As they say, there is one more! And this watch shouldn't necessarily be considered as a brand new watch for Watches and Wonders! It's not! And I think the nature of the watch is a bit jarring in a good way!

And that's maybe contributed to why it's gone so viral!

In a way, it went viral the night it got out!

Exactly! And a lot of people didn't believe it and all that kind of... you know, April Fool's joke, "AI fools!"

You know, deep faith!

Yeah! And the phone call started howling!

This is a smoking hot collector piece!

It is! And not many of them we made at all! It was an experiment from the beginning! Not many are made!

It's not necessarily a... The commercialization of this product isn't expected! It's not...

This watch, it isn't! It's just something totally out of left field, totally wild!

It is the Black Bay Chrono Pink!

Black Bay Chrono Pink! Now, a certain soccer team has pink.

A certain legendary soccer player loves pink jerseys!

M that has something to do with it!

It does! It does! It's... isn't solely due to the Tudor partnership with Inter Miami, but rather it points to a lot of the ambassadors!

And Jalia? This pink, J Chow, an ambassador in the East, yeah, loves pink!

And of course, the obvious one that it points to is the partnership with Inter Miami FC!

Yeah, actually here this week in Geneva, this is one of the top five hottest watches!

No! Oh, I’m glad to hear that! Price point under 6,000!

Under 6,000! That is the essence of Tudor right there!

But many collectors in this show, regardless of price, would choose this, because it’s somehow become radioactive excitement!

Yeah, sometimes a watch takes on a life! I would use the analogy, sizzling isotope!

Oo, that’s what it is! It’s a sizzling isotope of desire!

And now that I'm holding it, it's substantial!

It is! And it's eye-catching! And the shade of pink is unusual!

It is! A little bit of lavender!

A little... I've heard even Pepto-Bismol! I don’t know if that’s...

It is! You know when you’ve got a sick tummy? This is Pop, Pop, Fizz, Fizz!

Yeah! I really... I gotta tell you, it's a perfect, great, great, great design!

Going to serve you well as an ambassador to the brand, bringing all kinds of collectors in! You know the thing about collectors?

It's not about the money sometimes! It's just about that, "Got to have that piece!"

Yeah! It's going back to the 50s with baseball cards!

"Got to have it! Got to have it!" That’s what's happened with this piece!
