Trapped in Prostitution | Underworld, Inc.

Just a mile away, one prostitute works the internet from the comfort of her bedroom. The website is really helpful because I don't always have to leave home, and it helps get my face out there.

Annabella earns her living as an independent prostitute from California. She schedules appointments with guys online. "I would post my ad on the website and get myself together. It isn't long before a new booking comes in."

"Okay, so I check the website. I actually have an appointment about half an hour."

But the oil slowdown means Annabella now makes about half of what she used to. A year ago, when things were good, I see four to five people a day - now it's maybe two, maybe three. "I went from making fifteen grand a week to half of that."

She can't afford to drop her prices because rents in Williston still rival Manhattan. "It's very, very expensive to live here. On average, here for a 1-bedroom, 1-bath, it's over $2,000 a month. You have to make money to live here. If you don't have a job, you're gonna be out on the street."
