Fishing Tips: How to Modify Your Rig for Rough Seas | Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks

My name is Britton, shocking for non-accountants, and owner of The Doghouse. I'm gonna show you one of the things that we do when we're trolling in rough weather.

Here on the Outer Banks, it's notorious for windy conditions. Patrolling is a big part of what we do that gets these bluefish when we're fishing in rough weather. A lot of times, we'll put a head like this; it's a concave head, so your bait's not wanting to skip. This concave head really holds your bait down in the water when you're trolling, and it allows that fish to get lined up on your bait much better than it does when that wind is continuing to blow.

All you do is just cut your bait up by your crimp, slide this head down over top of your rig so that you're hooking back here, then just three-trip it. Now, when you let it stay back there, that bait is going to settle in the water and you need to go along, and your hookup percentage is going to be much better.

So that's how you rig up for trolling in rough weather. I hope this demonstration helps you when you're out on the water. Thanks for watching.
