Если мы возьмём обычные очки, то они помогут скорректировать неправильный фокус, либо для чтения, либо для дали. Есть универсальные очки, у которых есть несколько зон. Например, верхняя отвечает за взгляд вдаль, а нижняя — за чтение.

Есть даже такие, у которых центральная точка отвечает за взгляд вдаль, а далее концентрически располагаются зоны для средних объектов и для ближних объектов. Это мультифокальные линзы. Такие линзы не всегда удобны, поскольку чувствительны к расширению зрачка.

Тем интереснее оказался новый способ получить мультифокальные линзы. Нужно сделать их спиралевидной формы. За фокус и глубину резкости в таких линзах отвечает именно эта форма.
