Ведь не Россет совершила научное открытие в математике, но начнём мы с карточной игры. Это игра "Сет". Она известна тем, что позволяет генерировать нетривиальные математические задачки.

В игре присутствуют карты, обладающие четырьмя параметрами: форма фигуры, цвет фигуры, количество фигур и их штриховка. Каждый параметр может быть в трёх вариантах, например, ромб, овал или червяк, если мы говорим о форме.

Всего в колоде 3 в четвёртой степени карт, то есть 80. Одна карта в процессе игры нужна, чтобы собирать сеты, то есть множество. По правилу, в сете должны быть три карты, все параметры которых должны быть либо одинаковыми, либо разными.

Теперь вопрос: какое максимальное количество карт можно выложить на стол, среди которых не будет ни одного сета для параметра четыре? Правильный ответ - 20. При 21 карте сет соберётся в любом случае. Так что для четырёх параметров 20 - это так называемый кап-сет.
