Внимание! Там получено изображение диска Бетельгейзе. Вот само по себе это, конечно, звучит фантастично: звезда, которая находится в стоянии 700 световых лет, мы можем разглядеть её диск, как будто диск солнца.

Мы можем измерить распределение яркости по диску. Мы можем наблюдать выбросы из этого диска в инфракрасном излучении. Именно это сделано на приёмнике сфера, о котором я уже рассказывал в наших выпусках на телескопах очень большого телескопа.

Оказалось, что резко упала яркость диска. На нём как бы появилось большое пятно. Вы видите, диск как бы несимметричный стал: он стал не круглым, а такой вот неправильной формы.

Что это означает? Конечно, звезда не может сделать неправильной формы. Это значит вот что: либо действительно мы наблюдаем, как бы гигантское пятно на диске Бетельгейзе, как бывают, знаете, солнечные пятна, только они маленькие, либо это выброс пыли из оболочек.
