Пару слов о Паркинсоне. Это второе по распространённости нейродегенеративное заболевание, на первом месте — альцгеймер.

Через 8-10 лет после проявления симптомов пациент рискует оказаться полностью беспомощным, прикованным к кровати. Вызвана болезнь постепенной гибелью нейронов, вырабатывающих нейромедиатор дофамин. Но причина их отмирания до сих пор не установлена.

Есть гипотеза насчёт генетической предрасположенности: у 15% больных есть подобные случаи в семье, но ген Паркинсона до сих пор не найден. Есть гипотеза влияния окружающей среды, там её загрязнённости, потому что близость к промышленным предприятиям изменяет развитие болезни.

Есть окислительная гипотеза, есть гипотеза просто неудачного старения. Но однозначных причин появления Паркинсона мы до сих пор не знаем, поэтому нет и лекарства. И всё, что мы можем сделать — это как-то замедлить развитие болезни и улучшить уровень жизни пациентов.
